Program Descriptions

Programs

In the Valley Soccer Association, we strive to provide a meaningful and fun soccer experience to all age groups.  We offer two different programs in the VSA: for our U5-U7 we offer “in house” Mini Soccer, and from U9-U18, we offer the VSA Youth Soccer “leagues” that encompass the entire Valley area.

Mini Soccer

At U5, teams are made in each town and no games are played. We encourage a focus on two things at this age, Physical Literacy and HAVING FUN! Sessions are quick and interactive events that include parents and players having fun, learning how their bodies move, and developing a love for soccer.  U7 sees the introduction of games, but each town makes teams and plays games amongst themselves, without any formal league structures or inter-town play.

Youth Soccer

At U9-U18, the players form coed, grassroots teams in each community that play in a structured but laidback league environment.  Standings and statistics are kept from U13 and older, and there is a league final game for those age groups.

At U11-13, players are in the Learning to Train phase of the Long-Term Player Development model. From U15 and up, they enter the Training to Compete phase.

Each age group also enjoys an annual tournament, called the Valley Cup, which is hosted in various towns throughout the Valley.
